DESIGN COMPETITION
The project involves the construction of a school cafeteria and a sports hall, originally arranged with the cafeteria to the east and the sports hall to the west. However, a swap of functions is proposed: the cafeteria is relocated to the west, near the future school extension, creating a lively central square that is accessible throughout the day, while the sports hall is positioned to the north, in continuity with the existing structure. The buildings are connected by a flat, single-story structure with a cantilevered roof, which visually unifies the volumes and makes the entire complex more accessible and student-friendly. The single-story design ensures barrier-free access and reduces construction and operational costs. The cafeteria is flexible and multifunctional, with two separate entrances for the primary and secondary schools, dedicated spaces for backpacks, restrooms, and a stage for events. The kitchen is designed to efficiently serve both sections, with the option of operating as a fresh or reheating kitchen. The sports hall is accessible from the north and can be divided into two independent areas. It includes symmetrical changing rooms, equipment storage, a first aid room, teachers’ offices, and a dedicated fencing club room. It is connected to the cafeteria by a corridor, allowing for flexible entrance organization. The entire project is compact, spatially and economically efficient, and well integrated into the existing urban context.

CONCORSO DI PROGETTAZIONE
Il progetto prevede la costruzione di una mensa scolastica e di un palazzetto dello sport, inizialmente disposti con la mensa a est e il palazzetto a ovest. Tuttavia, si propone uno scambio delle funzioni: la mensa viene spostata a ovest, vicino al futuro ampliamento della scuola, creando una piazza centrale vivace e accessibile tutto il giorno, mentre il palazzetto viene collocato a nord, in continuità con l’esistente. Gli edifici sono collegati da una struttura piana a un piano con tetto a sbalzo, che unifica visivamente i volumi e rende l’insieme più accessibile e a misura di studente. Il progetto a piano unico garantisce l’accesso senza barriere e riduce i costi di costruzione e gestione. La mensa è flessibile e multifunzionale, con due ingressi separati per le scuole primaria e secondaria, spazi dedicati per zaini, servizi igienici e un palco per eventi. La cucina è progettata per servire entrambe le sezioni in modo efficiente, con possibilità di utilizzo come cucina fresca o riscaldamento. Il palazzetto dello sport è accessibile da nord e può essere suddiviso in due aree indipendenti. Include spogliatoi simmetrici, locali per attrezzature, infermeria, uffici per insegnanti e una sala per il club di scherma. È collegato alla mensa tramite un corridoio, permettendo un’organizzazione flessibile degli ingressi.
L’intero progetto è compatto, efficiente dal punto di vista spaziale ed economico, ben integrato nel contesto urbano esistente.
