The project for a private house in Varzi involves the demolition of an existing ruin and the construction of a new building. The shape of the new building will follow that of the existing one in compliance with local legislation and architecture.
The concept plays with the archetypal form of the house reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The house is a compact volume with a double roof covering. This choice to respect the architectural typology of the place and the old ruin.
Starting from the classic shape of the house, the volume is emptied on its short sides, incorporating most of the glazed surfaces. On the other hand the two long sides are massive, mainly made of local stone.
