INSIDE MIJIC – Creating with curved wood – construction site at the Ludwig-Uhland School in Giessen
July 7, 2023
Construction works are proceeding fast on the site of the L-U-S school in Giessen, Germany, a project that uses an innovative solution for the construction of a prefabricated wooden structure.
The elevated structure is composed of walls formed by curved X-lam panels that follow the shape of the building, which aims to fit into the context and preserve the existing main trees.
XLam wood panels represent one of the best building materials on the market today, and only two companies in Europe produce this special material.
Thanks to an advanced technology, using a massive hydraulic press, it was possible to achieve a truly astonishing result by giving the wood the exact curvature required by the design.
