The competition site for the new multi-storey car park is located on the eastern edge of Bitburg’s old town, whose compact urban structure, which has evolved over time, with the Roman fort and the medieval expansion in the urban fabric are clearly visible. The accessibility to the old town has been upgraded on the north-west and south side of the surrounding city ring by redesigning the plaza in recent years. On the east side, however, the necessary “address” for the development of the old town is missing. The new multi-storey car park offers the opportunity to create a new address for both visitors to Bitburg’s old town and those of the Marienhaus Clinic to the south.

Il sito di gara per il nuovo parcheggio multipiano si trova al margine orientale del centro storico di Bitburg, la cui struttura urbana compatta, che si è evoluta nel tempo, con il forte romano e l’espansione medievale nel tessuto urbano sono chiaramente visibili. L’accessibilità al centro storico è stata migliorata sul lato nord-ovest e sud dell’anello urbano circostante, ridisegnando la piazza negli ultimi anni. Sul lato est, invece, manca il necessario “indirizzo” per lo sviluppo del centro storico. Il nuovo parcheggio multipiano offre l’opportunità di creare un nuovo landmark sia per i visitatori del centro storico di Bitburg che per quelli della clinica Marienhaus a sud.
