TALKS WITH GIGI RIVA: COME SARA‘ DOPO IL VIRUS. DIALOGHI SUL FUTURO
Yesterday night Eduard Mijic was hosted by the Municipality of Santarcangelo, with the writer and journalist Gigi Riva, discussing about the topic “After the virus – dialogues about our future”, a streaming event broadcasted on Zoom. The main topics was the use of public spaces and their innovation. In opposition to the recent opinions of some colleagues, Eduard sustains the idea of urban density, due to the previsions of the population growth, thinking about a better use and qualitative improvement of the urban centers including the suburbs. Theories of thinning the human habitation are not sustainable for our planet and therefore we have at first to improve the urban and suburban zones. The public urban spaces could host all type of cultural events, that are not able to be proposed in closed spaces inside buildings because of the pandemic situation. In that mode, the qualities of the world heritage of architecture and urbanism, mainly located in Italy, would help to overcome the emergency. It’s time to listen carefully to citizens’ needs to make public places more usable, creating a social cohesion despite the situation of physical distancing.
