The project regards the renovation of an attic in the historic city center of Rimini (I). The aim of the project is to convert an old attic into a loft apartment creating a new structural wooden shell, removing the degraded cement-brick roof. The structure degradation requires the demolition of the existing roof and the reconstruction with new material and technologies in order to achieve a seismic improvement. According to the client a new roofing package was design to improve the thermal performance of the environment. The natural lighting is enhanced by opening a large skylight in the west slope and introducing a glazed façade in the east side. The renovation allows to obtain an accurate solar exposure throughout the year, creating a modern space with innovative materials.
