The competition’s aim is the project for the New City Hall in Plaidt. The cube, with its monolithic and geometric form, recalls the peculiarity of the place, where the landscape is characterized by the presence of volcanic rocks. The project is reconnected with the building tradition of the area, involving the traditional use of the volcanic stone for the building’s outer covering. The compact mass of the building is interrupted by two architectural elements that carve and mould the geometry: the entrance area and the inner lobby.

Project description
The entrance is obtained by a recess of the base, which creates a covered surface outside the building. Once inside, the spacious lobby with its natural light creates welcoming and bright atmosphere. A dark coloured stairway, located in the centre of the lobby, catches the attention of the visitors, giving to the New City Hall its distinctive feature.
