2007 - Museum of History, Frankfurt am Main (D)
Located in the Frankfurt’s historical Roemer square, the interventions on the Museum of History foresees the reconstruction of the previous extension to the historical building, usually dedicated to children.
The whole new museum area is divided in small parts by crossing paths and connecting passages. Such fragmentation recalls the typical scale and density of the historical city centres with high buildings and narrow alleys. Conceived as a multifunctional space, the big central foyer is an important connection element between the new area and the historical museum.
The constructive system refers to the traditional Fachwerk method, reinterpreted in a contemporary language.
