Project description

The competition concerned the designing of a new aquatic centre in Salzburg. The concept is inspired by the action of erosion made by water flow on the rock, a natural phenomenon which formed the famous Ice Caves near Salzburg. Similarly to this principle, the water of the swimming pools, creates the caves inside the compact volume of the building. The cylindrical cavities at the basis of the building creates permeable spaces that connect the building with the outside. At the upper levels, panoramic pools allow visitors to enjoy the view of the park.

At the upper levels, panoramic pools allow visitors to enjoy the view of the park. At the base of the cavities are placed the main entrance, the sauna and the wellness center.  The cavernous appearance of the building creates a strong identification with its inner function, in addiction to this, it amazes and delights the visitors.
